Tonight, Travis Herrick will be giving a talk on Cryptocurrencies. The abstract and bio can be found below.

Abstract
Blockchain technology is based around rules that everyone in the network follows in order to achieve a general agreement across many self interested nodes. But what happens when someone cheats? In this talk, we'll go over some of the game theory behind mining, and under what circumstances it's possible to cheat as a miner to increase your profits, and what sort of strategies we see people using.

Bio
Travis is a former poker player who moved to the Bay Area to pursue Software Engineering. He’s been a Rails + Web Engineer for several years, working on a variety of ventures. His primary technical interests right now are blockchains and how their advent is going to impact society. Travis tinkers with creativity tools and mentors Solidity in his spare time.
