On August 24th, we will be having a meetup at Narvar in SF, with two tech talks providing insights into how they approach data engineering and science. Hope to see you there.
Talk 1: Kevin Roberts
Narvar's Data Platform combines order information in dozens of formats across hundreds of retailers with tracking information from hundreds of carriers and usage behavior across our own application suite. We present our approach to modern ETL and data warehousing with multiple formats utilizing ingestion templating, serialized Kafka streams, and cloud storage using Amazon S3 and Redshift. Using a metadata layer, data on S3 with arbitrary schema can be copied to an existing RDBMS table for analysis or converted to HDFS or Orc files and processed with Hive or Presto for analytics and data science.
Talk 2: Brad Pflum
With an estimated 2/3rds of American online shoppers having interacted with Narvar’s post-purchase ecommerce platform, Narvar is assembling one of the largest and richest datasets in the world. This data, flowing thru a modern data platform, presents a rich playground for data science. We’ll discuss how we’re using hierarchical bayesian methods for AB testing, machine learning optimize supply chains, and AI to help retailers present personalized post-purchase experiences to their consumers.
