About this Meetup:
This is a two part Meetup! Expect a talk and a hands on workshop :)
6:30 pm - 7 pm: Networking and Snacks
7:00 pm - 7:30pm: Part 1 Talk + Q/A
7:30 pm - 9:00 pm: part 2 Talk/Workshop
Part 1: Visual Analytics at Scale with xSeer
Data has been growing at breakneck speeds and many data warehousing and processing platforms have been built to keep up with this size of data. However, visual data representation has essentially remained the same over the past century with severe limitations on the size of data they can present. The xSeer team will share their research from CMU and tools they've created to allow intuitive visualization at a massive scale.
Part 2: Intro to Scikit-learn
In this workshop, you will learn:
- Recognize problems that can be solved with Machine Learning
- Select the right technique (is it a classification problem? a regression? needs preprocessing?)
- Load and manipulate data with Pandas
- Build classification models with Scikit-Learn
- Evaluate model performance with Scikit-Learn
- Anaconda Python 3.6 installed
Meet Your Instructor:
The workshop is lead by Francesco Mosconi. Ph.D. in Physics and Data Scientist at Catalit LLC, he was formerly co-founder and Chief Data Officer at Spire, a YC-backed company that invented the first consumer wearable device capable of continuously tracking respiration and physical activity. Machine Learning and python expert he also served as Data Science lead instructor at General Assembly and at The Data incubator.
