September Meetup: Chris Garret on ES6 Classes & Decorators in Ember

Thursday, September 21, 2017 - 19:00
Ember.js NYC

Chris Garret (@pzuraq) will present on Using ES6 Classes & Decorators in Ember.

The Ember Object model has served us well over the years, but as Javascript has advanced it has begun to show its age. Now that decorators and class fields are all but guaranteed to land in the not-to-distant-future, we can start looking forward to the days when we'll be able to use native, vanilla JS for everything.

If you're the impatient type, however, you can start doing that today! I'll be talking about using ES Classes with Ember from versions 1.11 to 2.14, and all of the caveats and workarounds that each one requires, along with the future direction of classes and some of the potential changes they could bring to Ember as a whole.

Chris has been working with Ember.js since 2012 and is a lead frontend infrastructure engineer at Addepar. He is an East Bay native, UC Santa Cruz grad (banana slugs!), and wilderness backpacking aficianado.

RSVPs by September 19th are required, and you must bring a valid photo ID with you to the event for building access. You will be required to sign a digital NDA to enter Addepar's office as well.

We have space for a few 5-10 minute lightning talks. If you have something you would like to present, please contact luke __at__ lukemelia dot com.
