6.10 - Refreshment Break
6.20 - 'Stop Cyber Threats With Adaptive Micro-Segmentation' - Matt Buller, Senior Regional Systems Engineer, Illumio
Virtualization, the cloud, and the promise of containers have evolved the data center, bringing better application delivery and cost reduction. With these benefits come new risks that include increased East/West traffic and the potential for new cyber threats. Adaptive micro-segmentation is transforming and improving security inside the data center and clouds while speeding up app delivery.
In this session you’ll learn:
- How adaptive micro-segmentation enables security anywhere (on premises, AWS, Azure, etc.) on anything (bare metal, vSphere/KVM/XEN, containers), while eliminating app delivery delays caused by traditional security approaches.
- How customers are using adaptive micro-segmentation to instantly protect high-value apps, separate dev from prod with one rule, take existing security policies to the cloud, and more.
- How live visibility of application traffic and dependencies is making security dead simple for IT operations and security teams.
7.00 - 'Compliance in the Cloud' - Paco Hope, Principal Consultant, AWS
If you're contemplating moving sensitive data and workloads to the cloud, you're going to need to be sure that you comply with laws, regulations, and your own organisational policies. With the cloud, however, a fair number of security controls are defined, implemented, and managed by your cloud provider. Paco will describe how you can incorporate your cloud provider's security controls and compliance activities into your own. He will also discuss the shared responsibility model and how compliance differs in the cloud versus on premises. As an example, he will talk through a notional PCI-compliant cloud architecture and how to understand the security controls and compliance.
Paco Hope is a Principal Consultant in Security, Risk, and Compliance for Amazon Web Services. He helps enterprise customers achieve compliance and secure their workloads on AWS. Based in London, he works with major enterprises across Europe and the UK migrating workloads and building new applications on AWS. Prior to joining Amazon, Mr Hope was the Principal Security Evangelist for Cigital, a global software security consultancy (now part of Synopsys). His experience spans several vertical industries, including financial services, online retail, online gaming, and embedded systems.
