Guide to Building Offline-First Web and Mobile Apps

By the end of this year, half of world's population will be connected to the internet. Two thirds of them will use mobile devices to do so. Most of the new users live in the developing world, and access the internet via slow and limited network connections.

Offline-capable applications and network resilience have traditionally been thought of as solutions to improve user experience. For most of the world, they are a precondition for accessibility.

This talk will walk us through how to architect progressive web applications for the offline era. Many of our existing tools, such as React, will remain more relevant than ever, but going offline requires us to solve a range of new problems along the way.

Lead Mobile Engineer at @FormidableLabs, pull request drive-by shooter, creator of Pepperoni React Native Starter Kit, improv comedian (rarely funny).
