We're delighted to announce our 13th Meetup, the fifth for 2017,  in a stunning venue in the News Building by London Bridge Station. Special thanks to News UK for their generous sponsorship of this Meetup.


We've got another two great speakers organised and we can't wait to catch up with you again. As always, the emphasis will be on business outcomes derived from data science.

Cat Jones Of Unruly, has a first class degree in Physics from the University of Durham and a Masters with Distinction from SOAS, University of London. Since starting at Unruly, Cat has developed Unruly’s video content analysis and emotional targeting products, and now leads data strategy. Cat has published research on Social Video for Social Good and has been featured in TIME magazine and on the BBC. 

Karl Surmacz is a Principal Data Scientist at McLaren Applied Technologies, providing technical leadership at a project and strategic level within the company’s Modelling and Decision Science team. After completing a PhD in Theoretical Physics, he joined McLaren Racing in 2008 where he worked as a Race Strategist and a Control Systems Engineer. Since joining McLaren Applied Technologies in 2013 he has grown and developed the data science capability, and is heavily involved in McLaren’s industry-facing activities in Health, Transport, Motorsport, Automotive and Strategic Partnerships. His technical interests lie in mathematical modelling and statistical machine learning.
