THE EVENT

Tuesday 23rd May 2017 @ The Trampery (239 Old St, EC1V 9EY)

We are back again, exploring how UX is (quite literally) transforming the banking world!

In an industry with notoriously strict regulations and security measures, it has traditionally been slow progress to deliver risk-averse change for the end users... that is until now! Experience Design now has a seat at the table across the business world and banking is starting to change!

On the 23rd May, we will be meeting with some of the industry professionals who are a part of this change. We will have four excellent talks this evening, exploring the past, present and future of the banking industry and looking at how it can be improved for the user.

Our speakers will include Tiago Marques of Lloyds Bank PLC, exploring the holistic role of banks in society, the history and how designers can help influence change, Ranzie Anthony of design agency Athlon will discuss this further, looking at how new challengers and tech have changed customer's engagement with products. Through his own experiences, Ranzie will show us how increased synergies between the product and development teams of your organisation can help to speed up the product delivery process.

After the all-important networking (pizza) break, we will firstly be joined by Monzo's Hugo Cornejo, who will be walking us through what it takes to design one of the most exciting challenger banks out there, from business model to pixels. Lastly, we will be looking forward with Bence Csernak, who until recently was the Digital Product, UX and Design Manager for HSBC. Bence will be talking about the (not-so-distant) future of banking; the relationship between Fintech and AI and the benefits of personalising content and customised UI's based on machine learning, emotion sensors and facial expressions.

With space for up to 250, we would like to invite you straight from work for 6.30pm, to unwind with other UX and creative professionals at The Trampery's amazing space in Old Street. We will be networking from 6.30pm and talks will begin around 7.00pm and with food and drinks to boot, you are in for some excellent case studies and design predictions, jam packed with thought-provoking insights, so please book now to avoid disappointment.

Hiring managers are welcome, and if you are interested in hosting or sponsoring an event with us (and would like to get a taste of what we do), please get in touch with Myles McMorrow and we can hold you a ticket!

Tweet the event @TheUXCrunch and let’s get the ball rolling! We look forward to seeing you soon!!!

TALKS & DISCUSSIONS

Humanising The Banks – Past, Present and Future of Britain's Least Loved Service

Tiago Marques - Senior UX Designer @ Lloyds Bank

Understanding the role that banks have historically played in British society is vital in understanding how their culture has changed through time, eventually leading to the financial crisis of 2007-08. In this talk, Tiago will explore this past, in demonstrating how the creatives and designers of today are in a pivotal position to help define the financial services of the future.

Tiago is a Senior UX Designer with over 10 years of international experience in the digital industry. A self-professed UX design enthusiast and team player, he has a focus on mobile and financial services, using Agile and Lean design methodologies to help create products and services which make a meaningful, positive difference to the world. Tiago has worked in corporate, start-up and agency environments, with brands such as UsTwo, American Express, WorldPay, Barclays, BT and INQ Mobile!

UX Design in Fintech

Ranzie Anthony - Chief Creative Officer @ Athlon

Financial organisations are facing significant disruption, as new challengers and technologies change the way that people engage with products. To move quickly and manage change, both product owner and development teams must learn to work closer together than ever.

In his talk Ranzie will share his (and Athlon's) experiences on how UX design can help bring these two teams together and will discuss why it's more important than ever now, given the changing trends we've see this year.

Ranzie is an experienced Creative Director with a passion for design, technology and innovation. Graduating with a degree in Graphic Design, he started his career at Deepend an early digital agency.

In 1998 he founded Tonic, an award-winning digital design and brand agency who’s clients included Sony, Vodafone, MTV, Toshiba and British Council, and ran Tonic for 12 years prior to selling to a large agency network.

Ranzie has held creative director positions at advertising and branding agencies including Grey London, Purpose and Instinctif Partners and is currently co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Athlon, a 70 people design and technology agency with offices in London, New York and Sofia. Athlon works at the intersection of design, brand strategy and technology to help accelerate product innovation.

Hugo Cornejo - Head of Design @ Monzo

Hugo is going to give us all an insight into the processes undertaken to design a bank. We'll explore just how Monzo designers work, from business model through to pixels.

Hugo is Monzo's Head of Design, he defines the design principles that shape an easy to use yet powerful bank. A bank truly built for your smartphone.

Back in Spain he helped big corporations (BBVA, Globalia) and startups (Ticketea, Chicisimo) to design world-class customer experiences. Follow him @hugocornejo, it will make him very happy!

Fintech and AI

Bence Csernak - Product Designer @ Bencium (Former Digital Product, UX and Design Manager @ HSBC)

Personalising content and showing a customised user interface is becoming increasingly important in the modern world.

Bence will be sharing insights into the power of machine learning, emotion sensors and facial expressions, to help improve our user experience, as well as looking at how AI can aid in avoiding regulatory risks: accidental tapping/clicking and in facing challenges of user experience for particular age groups.

Bence is a London based full-stack digital product designer with 15+ years of experience in various sectors and markets, specialised in making complex FinTech products simple and beautiful for both startups and global companies.

Most recently Bence worked for HSBC as Digital Product UX and Design Manager, creating multiple native iOS mobile and web apps, including one of the leading global HSBC products.
