We’ve got two great speakers lined up for you this month. Gojko Adzic (@gojkoadzic) will be talking about how he saved 66% on his hosting costs by moving to AWS. Danilo Poccia (@danilop) will be sharing his experiences on empowering developers on Serverless architectures.
And now the details...
• 18:30: Arrival, Registration and Networking
• 19:00: Introduction, by Ijaz Jabbar, user group organiser

Gojko Adzic, How MindMup2 saved 66% on its journey to Lambda
The MindMup2 collaboration platform moved from Heroku to AWS Lambda. During the migration period, the number of active users increased by slightly more than 50%, but the hosting costs at the end dropped slightly less than 50%, resulting in effective hosting cost per user dropping by two thirds, despite adding a number of new services.
Moving to a serverless architecture required us to re-think how to approach sessions, storage, authorization and testing. You'll find out what worked well for us, where we got stuck, and how we made it work well at the end.
Danilo Poccia, Serverless for Developers
Serverless architectures simplify operations and maintenance of production applications, abstracting from the underlining infrastructure and OS. But what about development? What are the best practices to share from a development perspective? In this session I am sharing tools, ideas, and design tips that can empower a developer for their next (serverless) project.
